Everyone is Equal, but Some are More Equal Than Others

On previous occasions I have pointed out that money started out as a means of exchange and this grew like Topsy to become much more than a coin or a piece of paper. (I do not include plastic cards – there must be a place elsewhere for them).
Wealth is accumulated money or what it can buy, but the English language, beautifully flexible as it is, will also attribute wealth to qualities that have nothing to do with money or possessions.
A smallish TOTALLY isolated community can really only exist in a novelist’s mind, but such an “uncivilized” community would very rapidly invent its own means of exchange so that some members would eventually take their place at the top of the organisation – just as cream rises to the top of a bottle of milk.
I understand that Vladimir Putin is rather wealthy. Human nature got in the way of Karl Marx’s vision.
