Of all the charges levied against our citizens I have an impression that the one area that receives the most displeasure is tax in general, but in the past death duties and gift taxes led the pack.

While death duty could easily have been regarded as double taxation, the first step in shutting down the arguments about tax should be the fact that government service to the community has to be financed by the community.

The arguments proposed by those who are subjected to tax levies of any kind, rarely accept the rock solid fact that government costs money AND is critically necessary for the management of society as we want/need it to exist.

If you are making so much money that taxes are a genuine concern to your personal wellbeing, then I’m sure that the alternative – tax deductible gifting during your working lifetime – will probably get up your nose as well.
