At The Lodge in Canberra and up the road at Parliament House a chair swap has now occurred and hopefully we can relax between now and 2025 and get on with our lives.
I don’t believe that elections in Australia induce the same passions as in some other countries and we can all heave a collective sigh of relief that a change of government in Australia does not bring with it some of the tensions we occasionally see in other parts of the world.
A large number of Australians are able to sit back, relax and happily say that they have no interest whatsoever in which party sits on the government benches in the Parliament House chamber.
I’m still unsure whether a strong conviction about who wins the State of Origin rugby league series rather than any conviction about who wins the treasury cap in Canberra deserves a tick or a frown.
