Animal Farm

We have recently increased the population of our home by acquiring a new family member – he weighs in at 3.8 kilos and has 4 legs and an appalling love for used tissues. (He’ll take unused ones if there’s nothing better on offer).

After paying for our purchase and obtaining the necessities of life for looking after our new canine family member we had time to speculate on the huge impact animal inhabitants have on our economy.

4 kilos of white fluff and his purchase price pales into insignificance when considering future expenses. But even toting up the cost of his food, grooming, worming and other veterinary costs, toys (no matter how sturdy they’re no match for those sharp little teeth), collars, leads, harnesses and other necessary paraphernalia there’s one thing we’re grateful for – at least he’s not a horse!
